It seems that A.I. is always in the news these days and as somebody who has been working in the field since the 1980s it's heart-warming. Unfortunately, it's also depressing that so much of the coverage is just plain wrong. Ars Technica recently published a thoughtful article titled: "Debunking the biggest myths about artificial intelligence", which I would recommend you read. The BBC also recently aired a documentary, in its excellent science series Horizon, titled: "The Immortalist", which covers some of the same ground.
